      James Harvey CARSON died May 9, 1882...he leaves wife and two daughters..He was the father of eight children...He lived a good round old age, three score and ten years...member of the Presbyterian church...He was born and raised in Franklin County, IN and moved to this county at an early date. He married Mary C. Scobey, sister of Col. J.S. Scobey, of this city. About thirty years ago he moved onto a farm a couple of mile east of the city...

      Obituary: James Harvey CARSON was born May 27th, 1812 and died at 4a.m. May 9th, 1882, lacking 18 days of reaching the allotted three score and ten years. A man of feeble constitutional vigor all his life, yet by his quiet and orderly deportment, and temperate habits he lived to a good old age. He died of no active disease. It may be said that the vital spark gradually and quietly went out. Mr. CARSON was raised near Mt. Carmel, Franklin County, IN There he married Mary C. Scobey. ....
