He and Nancy had twelve children, of whom eight were living. He and Elizabeth had three children, one of which was living. He was reared on a farm and has been a farmer all his life. Owned 280 acres. He was a Republican. They were faithful members of the Christian Church. He had fifty-three grand-children, twenty-eight great-grand-children, some of them were married. SILAS FORDYCE, a farmer of Holbrook, PA. He was born on the old FORDYCE homestead in Center Twp. Silas was raised on a farm and was a farmer and stock-raiser most of his life. He owned 300 acres where he resided with his family. Silas was a Republican and when the war broke out he enlisted in the 18th PA Cavalry and served for one year and eight months where he was in a number of serious engagements. He and his wife were consistent members of the Christian Church.
