- [S00257] Obituary - Mrs. Anthony Kopecky, Iowa City Press Citizen, (Name: 5 Jan 1925;), p. 5.
Former Solon Resident Dies - Mrs. Anthony Kopecky, a former resident of Solon, died at her home in Cedar Rapids Friday following a long illness. She was 87 years old and had broken her hip twice within the past few months. Mrs. Kopecky was born in Bohemia in 1885 and came to America with her parents Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Beranek. [Ed. note: date of birth is actually 1838, as Mrs. Kopecky was 87 at the time of this obituary in 1925. This author assumes she came to America in 1885 instead.]
They settled on a farm three miles southeast of Solon, now the home of her brother Edward Beranek. After her marriage, she made her home at Weston and later moved to Cedar Rapids. She is survived by her husband and one son, Anthony of Cedar Rapids, two grandsons and one great-grandchild. There are alos two brothers, F.B. Beranek of Solon and Jacob Beranek of Mount Vernon, and a sister, Mrs. Frank Rybacek of Riverside.
Funeral services were held today at St. Wenceslaus church at Cedar Rapids. Rev. August Vojacek officiating. - [S00202] Johnson County, Iowa Wpa Grave Registrations, Johnson County, Iowa Wpa Grave Registrations, (Name: Ancestry.com. Iowa Cemetery Records [database on-line].
