 Elusive People

Those elusive Shafers!

Lydia Leonard (1833-unkn) married Charles B. Shafer and moved to Kansas Territory a few years later. She and Charles appear in Chataqua County, Kansas, census reports all the way up to 1885, when the whole family vanished. A brother's obituary notes that she is "deceased" in 1907. One of her sons, William T. Shafer, appears in Oklahoma City Census reports in a 1920 census and in a 1925 city directory. No sign of Lydia and/or Charles. If you come across them, please notify Your Friendly Neighborhood WebMaster at rick (at) rickleonard.net.
